The Transport pathway suggests ways for students, staff, and local government to work together to raise awareness of transport issues and come up with practical solutions that will make a real difference to students’ everyday lives.
Local Examples
Our motor vehicles have negative effects on the environment through pollution, depletion of resources, and stress among our community. Students can explore how their peers travel to and from school and research alternative means to encourage a sustainable transport policy within their school – i.e., public transport, carpooling, cycling, running, walking.
Saltus Design and Technology students got an expert lesson from Bermuda Motors on the new environmentally friendly Toyota Prius. Students learned about hybrid systems which use a combination of electric and regular gas motors and are more energy efficient as well as less harmful to the environment.
