BUEI Talks presents: Exploring Bermuda’s Underwater World
BUEI Talks presents: Exploring Bermuda’s Underwater World
With Presenter Harold Conyers,
Retired Architect & Maritime Explorer
Inspired by the beauty and mystery of Bermuda’s underwater environment, retired Bermudian architect Harold Conyers invites you to share the story behind the creation of the Sea Pod, a custom-designed, semi‑submersible exploration vessel built to conveniently access the Island’s diverse marine habitats.
In this illustrated talk, Harold recounts the journey from idea to reality, exploring the innovation and challenges involved in designing, constructing, and deploying the Sea Pod.
Purpose-built to carry up to two people, the vessel allows for immersive exploration by day or night of Bermuda’s reefs, lagoons, shipwrecks, open ocean, Sargasso mats, and coastal waters, as well as seasonal wonders such as humpback whale migration, coral and glow worm spawning, and shark encounters.
This talk offers a behind-the-scenes look at a deeply personal project that blends architecture, engineering, and a lifelong love of Bermuda’s maritime heritage.
Enjoy 15% off dinner at the Harbourfront Restaurant when you dine before the talk! Reservations required. Call 295-4207.
